Rescue and Rehab Funds

Here at the Gulf Coast Humane Society, we have been completing families since 1945 and finding forever homes is the best part of our jobs. Sadly, many of the dogs and cats that come to us have been abused, neglected, injured or have chronic illnesses. These injured or ill animals are taken in to our care and treated based on the funds available at the time of intake or illness. Through the below rescue and rehab funds, you can choose to make a contribution to an animal in need of care. This will decrease the costs associated with the provision of necessary medical care they need and deserve. Once these animals are healthy, they will then be available to the public for adoption. We truly thank you for any contribution offered.

Heartworm Fund

Mosquitos in South Texas are a very common thing and Heartworm infection follows right behind for our pets. Heartworms are a serious problem here in the Coastal Bend and all surrounding areas. Due to our warm, wet climate, the mosquitoes, which carry juvenile heartworms prolifically, can spread the parasites to many animals-- even humans. A very large number of dogs coming into the Gulf Coast Humane Society are afflicted with heartworm infection, and must be treated before they can go to their new homes. This Heartworm Fund assists in providing heartworm treatment for our shelter animals. Click below to help us!

Emergency Pet Care Fund

Through the Emergency Pet Care Fund, you can choose to make a contribution to an animal that is need of immediate care. Many animals that come through the doors of the Gulf Coast Humane Society need extra care, whether it be due to abuse, neglect, injuries, or chronic illness. Donations to the Emergency Pet Care Fund help decrease the costs associated with the provision of necessary medical care they need and deserve.

Special Surgeries for Homeless Animals

Through the Special Surgeries for Homeless animals Fund, you can make a contribution to an animal that is need of surgical care that is currently in GCHS care. Many animals that come through the doors of the Gulf Coast Humane Society need much more extensive care, whether it be due to abuse, neglect, injuries, or chronic illness that will require surgery. Donations to the Special Surgeries Fund help decrease the costs associated with the provision of necessary care they need and deserve.
